Celebrating FVPSA’s 35th Anniversary

Thanks to funding from the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act (FVPSA), the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence (NRCDV) has been a comprehensive source of information for those wanting to educate themselves and help others on the many issues related to domestic violence for the past 25 years.
NRCDV believes that domestic violence is preventable. Through comprehensive technical assistance (TA), training, and resource development, NRCDV staff work to build the capacity of individuals such as the advocates quoted above, as well as organizations, systems and communities to improve responses to domestic violence and, ultimately, prevent its occurrence. Our constituencies are as broad and varied as the questions and topics that we address via our TA, training and resource development efforts.
NRCDV’s key initiatives and special projects include VAWnet.org, PreventIPV, DV Evidence Project , Domestic Violence Awareness Project, Safe Housing Partnerships, ACE-DV Leadership Forum, Runaway & Homeless Youth and Relationship Violence Toolkit, and Community Based Participatory Research Toolkit.
Our work is led by centering and amplifying voices of survivors and traditionally marginalized communities, as exemplified by our NRCDV Stands statement. We treasure our collaborations with traditional partners such as the member organizations of the FVPSA-funded Domestic Violence Resource Network (DVRN). But, as the #1Thing, One Movement campaign led by our Domestic Violence Awareness Project emphasizes, we are also invested in creating and cultivating community and meaningful collaborations with new partners across sectors and social justice issues.
This October, NRCDV joins other DVRN member organizations in wishing everyone at FVPSA a happy 35th anniversary! We are honored and humbled to have the opportunity to inform and strengthen domestic violence intervention and prevention efforts at the individual, community, and societal levels.
